Heritage in Hand

Design in Bangladesh is the platform through which Rokaiya connects designers, artisans, manufacturers and global institutions. It advances the national fashion narrative from “Made in Bangladesh” toward “Designed in Bangladesh,” spoken in public at TEDxRUET in 2025.

01 · Context

Context

Rokaiya founded Design in Bangladesh as a platform connecting designers, artisans, manufacturers and global institutions. The work treats the national industry as a site of authorship, not only of manufacture.

02 · Research

Research

The proposition “Designed in Bangladesh” is a research position as much as a public sentence. It asks who is credited when Bangladesh already shapes what the world wears.

03 · Material

Material

The platform does not isolate a single fibre. Jamdani, muslin, jute and seasonal colour systems remain the material grammar through which the argument is made.

04 · Process

Process

Education, consultancy and public speaking carry the research. In 2025 Rokaiya spoke at TEDxRUET on moving the national fashion narrative from “Made in Bangladesh” toward “Designed in Bangladesh.”

05 · Outcome

Outcome

The platform remains an active practice. This archive records the public argument and will add studio-approved programme photography when rights are cleared.
